Message to the Core Alumni to Establish BUDHI

Letter of the Chairman to the Core Alumni to Establish BUDHI (MEF then)

Dear Colleagues,

Let me take a look at the context.
I have been involved with MSU, particularly in Marawi from 1963 to 2018 in various capacities. Through the years, our dreams as pioneers have been fulfilled of founding a great University. It has helped thousands of individuals to enhance their dignity and financial status.
MSU remains a bastion for transformational development as it continues to cater to the poor(est) with its quality education and exposure to the diverse socio-cultural and religious environment of Marawi.
My wife Marlene and I have for many years searched for and supported poor but talented students who are given opportunity to study at MSU. Some did miss the entrance exams at MSU. We find these students through various means, most often via referral and other ways.
The MSU Alumni Association(s) are involved in different assistance activities for the Alma Mater on a yearly basis depending on the funds they raise. There is none of a perpetual endowment fund for scholarships and other needs of students and faculty..
Limiting myself to the present MSU Endowment Fund (MEF) Ideas Group, I envision a core group of great (nay, tough) alumni who may have similar sentiments about a sustained (perpetual) scholarship program, outside of what MSU dispenses for poor but with potential MSU students.
The alumni (yes, please, YOU) in the core group have proven yourselves in pursuing innovative, creative and difficult projects for the profession, stakeholders and the community. You have positive attitude towards interacting with peers to search for strategies and approaches to develop plans and activities for the MEF. I envision a dynamic and enjoyable chemistry between the members of this core group of co-equal peers, including myself.
The potential to succeed in the MEF is almost unlimited with the strategies, approaches, plans and activities that will emanate from this indescribably dedicated, intelligent and smart core group. I am confident of this.
As a group therefore, the mission is to continue to discuss and exchange ideas on the MEF. Everything is on the table, we will decide on various points by consensus, even to consider founding a nonprofit corporation involving us, and/or some other personalities. And whatever else we could think of,
The projection of P 100 M for the MEF over five years I find possible considering the number and accumulated resources of MSU alumni and affiliated MSUans in the Philippines and abroad. P 100 Million may even be surpassed.

Yours sincerely,

Siruffy
