The Mindanao State University (MSU), since its founding in 1961, has been a bastion of producing quality manpower through excellent higher education, cultural integration, development, and the promotion of peace in the Mindanao-Sulu-Palawan region. It has produced alumni in all walks of life who are willing, and now are able to support the University in its statutory mandate.

A nonprofit organization was recently founded by MSU alumni who are passionate to assist MSU in its further growth. The corporation is called BUDHI or Beloved University Development and Heritage Initiatives.

BUDHI aims to establish an Endowment Fund (EF) to support MSU pertaining to student scholarships, faculty incentives, stipend for students conducting thesis work, and modest R&D projects of faculty.

MSU and BUDHI commit to cooperate in various ways to establish and develop an EF which will be sourced mainly from alumni and other benefactors. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed in MSU Main on June 16, 2023 between MSU President Basari Mapupuno and BUDHI Chairman of the Board Rufino Ignacio pertaining to the EF.

Under the MOA, the MSU undertakes to:

(1). provide BUdHI up-to-date information regarding the programs and activities of MSU that are necessary for the EF campaign;

(2). provide BUDHI with available mailing and contact information of its alumni from 1966 to 2022, subject to applicable laws on data privacy; and

(3). provide public and moral support to BUDHI for the latter’s fundraising activities.

For its part, BUDHI undertakes to

(1). disseminate and made known to the public at large the great academic and related activities of the University;

(2). harness the potential of MSU alumni and benefactors to donate to the EF in order to raise One hundred million pesos (P 100,000,000) over the next five years, or from 2024 to 2029;

(3). provide MSU with periodic status report on the fundraising campaign; and

(4). manage the EF and its proceeds in order to achieve its intended purposes.

At long last, MSU alumni and benefactors now have the means and platform to show their tangible and solid financial support to students and faculty of Alma Mater MSU, their very own “Silahis ang katulad mong nagsabog ng liwanag…Nang ika’y isllang na dakila ang hangad…Ating ipagkapuri itong Pamantasan..,”

BUDHI has developed the management system and procedure for the fundraising campaign through the appropriate depositary bank (Landbank), A simple Website and other social media outlets are being used to disseminate information about BUDHI and its activities.
